DND DICE EXPLAINED
WHAT ARE DND DICE?
When playing D&D there are some mystical shapes that determine all of your character's successes and failures. A typical set of gaming dice, includes 7 key maths rocks, and rolling each of them into the dice tray of fate is a key part of Dungeons and Dragons.
But which 7 dice make a set?
To start playing, you only need one of each: the D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, and D20, but standard 7-dice sets also include a second D10 which is used for percentile rolls. True Dicegoblins will roll with many sets of dice, not only because these dice are often works of art in their own right, but in order to make it possible to roll pools of dice, such as 3D6 in one roll instead of 3 individual d6 rolls. Of course, there are a wide variety of additional dice that can also be added to your roster like the D2, D3, D100, or even D120.
What are the common uses of these polyhedral dice?
In general, the D4, D6, D8, D10 and D12 are used for weapons damage, attacks, spells and healing amounts. D20 dice are used most often to see if an attempted action succeeds.
